BURGLAR-RESISTANT SECURITY SLIDING DOORS:
THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR EVERY BUILDING PROJECT

Criminal police statistics show that burglaries in private homes and apartments are frequent targets for burglars. Other targets include private villas, critical infrastructure, jewelry stores, museums, state institutions and other objects requiring special protection.

According to current statistics, the clearance rate is around 19%.

This means that the protection of these objects and facilities is of particular importance. Poorly secured windows and doors offer little resistance and thus allow intruders or burglars to break in. The risk of detection is usually low.

However, the statistics also show that burglaries can be prevented by security technology. Because the decisive factor is time. Time that our security doors create.

Depending on the architecture, a wide variety of security products in different “security classes” are required with the best possible convenience. Burglar-resistant security lift and slide doors / security sliding systems are increasingly in demand. At Hans Timm Fensterbau, we recognized this development and created solutions in this security segment at an early stage.

We offer burglar-resistant security sliding doors in timber, timber-aluminum and aluminum for a wide range of threat scenarios relating to general crime, violent crime and terrorism.

Whether as a security lift and slide door or as a PSK system, high ease of use, thermal insulation and design can be perfectly combined with maximum security. Narrow profile views ensure large elements with maximum light incidence. In terms of technology and design, all our burglar-resistant security sliding systems offer an equipment and design portfolio that meets all requirements in commercial and private residential construction.

Another option to increase the security of the building and thus the protection against burglary is the use of electronic security components (including alarm glass, alarm sensors, magnetic contacts, bolt contacts), which can be invisibly integrated into the constructions of our security doors. By installing these security components, the windows are monitored for opening, locking and breaching. The components used here comply with the valid VdS classes A, B & C. Our own patented security components for increased convenience and security against burglary round off our portfolio.

Our references in the field of burglar-resistant security sliding doors include federal institutions (e.g. federal ministries, residences of German ambassadors, residential properties of members of various federal and state constitutional bodies, vulnerable public figures and private businesses).

Tested and certified burglar-resistant security windows

Due to the increasing number of cases of burglary, the topic of burglary protection is also a particular focus of the work of police crime prevention. The aim is to raise public awareness of effective burglary prevention even more intensively than before. Together with cooperation partners from the insurance industry, industry associations and installation companies, the police launched the nationwide publicity campaign K-EINBRUCH.

Registered in the police manufacturer directory

Hans Timm Fensterbau is registered in the list of manufacturers of “tested and certified burglar-resistant windows” published by the police. Our timber windows, timber-aluminum windows and aluminum windows in resistance classes RC2, RC3 and RC4 are therefore considered “unreservedly recommendable” for good burglary protection. We would be happy to advise you in our showroom.

MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENTS FOR SLIDING SAFETY DOORS

Wall connection

In addition to the burglar-resistant element, the wall connection plays a decisive role.

This must be sufficiently stable and have an appropriate strength in accordance with DIN EN 1627 to withstand mechanical attacks.

We ensure professional installation using tested fixing and sealing materials and specially trained installation personnel.

Glazing

Burglar-resistant elements must be fitted with appropriate attack-resistant glazing in accordance with DIN EN 1627.

Burglar-resistant glazing is defined in DIN EN 356.

We use safety glass in various thicknesses, depending on the requirements profile, as toughened safety glass (TSG), laminated safety glass (LSG) and polycarbonate glass (PC) in our systems.

Glass connection

The glass connection of burglar-resistant elements must be designed in accordance with the resistance classes so that it has sufficient stability and strength.

In order to withstand mechanical attacks, e.g. prying open, puncturing or smashing, our burglar-resistant elements, incl. of the glass connections in accordance with DIN EN 1627-1630.

Locking bolt

Thanks to robust locking bolts, we easily achieve resistance class RC2 in accordance with DIN EN 1627-1630.

When equipped with four locking bolts and three pairs of rear locking devices on the sealing rail, resistance class RC3 in accordance with DIN EN 1627-1630 can also be achieved.

Sealing rail with rear grip safety device

The back check devices integrated into the sealing rail stabilize the central closing of the lift and slide doors and enable locking up to resistance class RC3 in accordance with DIN EN 1627-1630.

Locking hook

Swivel hook gearbox: uncompromisingly tight and secure.

Up to three swivel hooks with integrated locking function ensure first-class tight closure and high burglar resistance class RC2 in accordance with DIN EN 1627-1630.

When open, they slide smoothly and wear-free into the frame section via locking rollers.

ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT AS AN EXTENDED SAFETY MEASURE

Magnetic contacts

Magnetic locking and opening monitoring systems offer individual solutions for intrusion and hazard detection.

The systems monitor the status of the window or sliding element for opening and closing

The components used here comply with the valid VdS classes A, B & C.

Alarm glass

Alarm glass is toughened glass (ESG) that is equipped with an alarm spider (glass breakage detector).

This can be either visible or completely concealed.

The components used here comply with the valid VdS classes C.

SAFETY GLASS FOR BURGLAR RESISTANCE

Our burglar-resistant security windows are generally fitted with security glass in accordance with DIN EN 1627 – 1630 equipped.

Of course, we also use higher-quality safety glazing at the customer’s request.

Attack-resistant glazing is defined in DIN EN 356 and divided into different resistance classes (P-A and P-B classes).

There are two types of attack-resistant glazing: Glass with the suffix “A” is impact-resistant, glass with the suffix “B” is break-through-resistant.

Safety glasses in the P-A classes

Glasses in the P-A classes are tested with v (DIN EN 356). A metal ball with a diameter of 10 cm and a mass of 4.11 kg is dropped from various heights onto a 110 x 90 cm target. The more film there is between the individual layers of glass, the thicker the pane becomes and the longer it takes for the pane to be broken through.

Penetration-resistant glazing repels spontaneous attacks and offers protection against penetration and vandalism.

For example, a P4A target must withstand the fall of the ball from 9 m three times.

Safety glasses of the P-B classes

Glasses in the P-B classes are tested with a machine-guided axe (DIN EN 356). This involves trying to make a 40 x 40 cm hole in a 110 x 90 cm pane.

The 2 kg axe is struck against the test disk at a speed of 11 m/s (39.6 km/h). The number of strokes simulates the use of different tools.

In deviation from DIN EN 1627, the police recommend the use of glazing in resistance class P6B from resistance class RC3.

A P6B washer, for example, has to withstand between 30 and 50 impacts before it breaks through.

WE USE THREE TYPES OF SECURITY GLASS FOR OUR SECURITY WINDOWS, SECURITY DOORS, SECURITY SLIDING DOORS AND SECURITY FACADES

Toughened
safety glass (ESG)

Toughened safety glass (TSG) is a thermally toughened soda-lime glass in which a strong internal tension is built up through heat treatment. This significantly increases temperature, impact and shock resistance compared to normal float glass. When it breaks, it disintegrates into small, compact cubes, effectively reducing the risk of cuts and impact injuries.

Toughened safety glass (ESG) is mainly used for alarm glass.

Advantages

of toughened safety glass (ESG)

  • Use with alarm glass
  • Increased impact and shock resistance
  • Insensitive to temperature differences
  • Increased flexural strength

In the event of breakage, ESG shatters into many small blunt fragments and triggers the alarm.

Compound
Safety glass (VSG)

Laminated safety glass (LSG) consists of two or more panes with interlayers in between. This is referred to as glass-foil-glass bonding. The number of highly elastic polyvinyl butyral (PVB) films can vary according to the resistance class. The panes are becoming thicker and heavier depending on the safety requirements.

Advantages

of laminated safety glass (VSG)

  • Fragments adhere to foil
  • Bullet-resistant (depending on thickness)
  • Speech inhibiting (depending on thickness)
  • Higher sound insulation

Increased burglary protection, minimized risk of injury.

Polycarbonate
glass (PC)

Polycarbonate (PC) is a thermoplastic and is used in particular when classic laminated safety glass reaches its limits (too thick, too heavy) or customers have a special need for protection.

Polycarbonate glass combines the special properties of glass and polycarbonate. Glass is very scratch-resistant and rigid. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is very light, impact-resistant and has a relatively soft surface. The combination of the two materials results in very good and highly transparent safety glass that impresses with its high resistance.

Advantages

of polycarbonate glass (PC)

  • Permanently elastic bonding between glass and PC,
    Glass = scratch-resistant + rigid, PC = impact-resistant
  • Very burglar-proof
  • Very bulletproof
  • Very light
  • High strength and rigidity
  • Excellent impact strength

High protection against burglary attempts
