BERLIN

Soho House Berlin

The listed corner building, a masterpiece in the New Objectivity style, was once designed by the architects Georg Bauer and Siegfried Friedländer. It gained its historical significance in the late 1920s as the Jonass department store. Unfortunately, the Jewish owners were expelled and the building subsequently served as the headquarters of the Hitler Youth. After the Second World War, it temporarily became the headquarters of the Central Committee of the SED.

Today, Soho House Berlin is an important meeting place for the creative scene and an indispensable cultural institution in Berlin Mitte. It has breathed new life into this historic building.

With regard to the window and façade work, we designed listed wooden windows with high-quality sound insulation functions in the main building. On the second floor, wooden composite windows with integrated sun protection were used, while on the eighth floor an impressive 16-meter-long lift-and-slide door made of oak wood with a glaze coating was installed.

Two vertical sliding windows were installed for the food counter and the pool area was fitted with custom-made, fall-proof stainless steel glass railings. On the first floor, mullion and transom façades with integrated retractable sashes and SHEV functions as well as aluminum door constructions were implemented. In addition, four skylights were produced as all-glass constructions.
